Andersen 100 Series Doors

Andersen’s 100 series gliding patio doors are made from Fibrex, an energy-efficient, composite material composed of recycled materials and is environmentally friendly. North Texans love this door not only for its environmentally friendly qualities, but its value and rich colors. This gliding door’s finish is particularly resistant to fading and damage from the Texas heat.

What is the Warranty on Andersen 100 Series Doors?

Like other Andersen products, the warranty for the Series 100 gliding door is fully transferable. Andersen refers to this as an Owner2Owner transferable warranty. If you sell your home before the coverage expires, the remainder of the contract can be passed onto the new owner. There is no additional loss of protection or alteration of the terms. The warranty for the 100 Series patio door offers specific durations and conditions as opposed to blanket coverage.  Each section of the agreement identifies what is covered, for how long, and any exclusions.

What does Andersen’s Glass Warranty Cover for 100 Series Doors?

  • Glass Coverage: 20 Years
  • Vision/obstruction: 20 Years
  • Patterned Glass: 20 Years (with exclusions)

The first section covers the glass components of your new patio door. This coverage begins at the time of purchase and ensures that your gliding door will be free of any issues resulting from defects in manufacturing, materials, or workmanship for a period of 20 years. It is critical to understand that any problems must be specific to defects at the time of manufacturing. Broken glass resulting from a baseball striking the window is not covered. Damage from accidents like this may be covered by your homeowner's insurance. You should read through all of the mentioned glass packages that the guarantee covers and note exclusions such as special glazings, impact-resistant glass, and any glass that is not installed at the factory by Andersen. Your glass should not develop stress cracks, discoloration, or visibility issues during the period of coverage. This also applies to patterned glass. Your organic seals are also protected against failure for the duration of the agreement.

What does Andersen’s Parts Warranty Cover for 100 Series Doors?

  • Non-glass Components: 10 Years

The rest of your patio door is covered under the section for “components other than glass”. This includes things like non-electric operators, locks, lifts, balance systems, hinges, handles, insect screens, and parts of the frame. You should read this section for the complete list of covered parts. Everything but the noted exclusions is covered for a period of 10 years from the time of purchase. Bright brass and satin nickel hardware are noted as exclusions in this section.

What does Andersen’s Exterior Color Finish Warranty Cover for 100 Series Door?

  • Exterior Color Finish (flaking, blistering, etc): 10 years
  • Exterior Color Finish (fading): 10 years

The exterior finish and color on your patio doors is protected for a period of 10 years beginning at the time you purchase your new door. It guarantees that your paint will not flake, blister, peel, or experience similar issues during the period of coverage. Additionally, your gliding door will not fade under normal conditions.  Andersen includes a description of the allowable tolerances for fading and how it is measured. The warranty will only apply if your door exceeds the limits of fading described in the terms. There are several excluded components listed in this section that include patio door sills, insect screen frames, hardware, and lock components. Please see the complete list in your agreement for further details.

What is NOT Covered

Each section of the warranty plan lists specific exclusions. However, there are other general terms listed near the end of the agreement. Below are some of the key features. You should examine the entire section for the complete list.

  • Product modifications
  • Improperly installed or mulled units by non-certified crews
  • Failure by 3rd party hardware installation
  • Conditions beyond the published performance specifications
  • Water infiltration caused by other factors besides manufacturing defects

Other excluded items:

  • Labor (unless otherwise specified)
  • Any third-party additions
