3 Things to Consider When Replacing Windows

Window replacement is a great investment for your home. Though you may have various reasons for replacing your windows, there are several factors you should consider when entering this process.

Time

You know the saying, "Rome wasn't built in a day?" Well, that applies to anything of value. While replacement windows add a great deal of value to your home, the process does take a bit of time. In general, it can take around 4 to 6 weeks for your windows to arrive after the order is placed, and installation may take one to three days.

Style

Selecting the right style of window for your home will instantly increase curb appeal. Not only will it give you a fresh look, but it will come in handy for resale value. Some questions to ask yourself: Do I want grids? Would I like the interior color of my windows to match the exterior color? What style is my home (i.e. Colonial, ranch, Spanish, bungalow, etc.)? Considering these elements will help you make the best choice for your home.

Prep for Installation

During installation, you will want to verify that the team takes proper care of your home. Have flowerbeds and plants covered with drop cloths and tarps put up to ensure dirt and dust stays outside where it belongs. Usually, windows are installed from the outside, but there are rare occasions when an installer may need to come inside to inspect the work. My tip would be to move items, like furniture, curtains or valuables, away from window openings during installation for this reason.
