Grilles

Grilles, or grids, give your window a more traditional look. Before technology made creating large panes of glass a possibility, glass for windows was made in small individual pieces that were joined together by window grilles. Glass now is made in large sheets and grilles are an aesthetic touch.

Andersen offers grille patterns to match popular architectural styles as well as custom patterns. They also offer four options for grille types:

Full Divided Light

  • They give your window the most authentic look with grilles on the exterior and interior sides of the window as well as an aluminum spacer between the sheets of glass. The spacer creates the full illusion that there are individual panes of glass instead of one sheet.

Simulated Divided Light

  • This option is similar to the Full Divided Light with grilles on the exterior and interior sides of the window. The exterior grille is permanent and the interior grilles can be permanent or removable. There is no divider between the glass on this option.

Removable Interior Grille

  • This grille is secured on the interior side of the window so you can remove it when you want to clean your full window.

Finelight Grilles Between-the-Glass

  • This option places the grilles between the panes of glass making it easy to clean the exterior and interior sides of the window glass.

Tilt Sash

A tilt sash option isn’t available on all windows but it is available as an option for the Double-hung window in the A-Series.

Andersen calls this feature the “Easy Tilt-to-Clean” because that is precisely what a tilt sash is and does. The sash is the part of the window that holds the glass in the frame and on double-hung. In other words, it’s the part that moves up and down when you open the window. On a tilt sash, that part can unlatch from the frame and swing-down so that cleaning the window glass doesn’t involve having to go outside.

Exterior Colors

Andersen offers 11 color options for the exterior of the products in the A Series. The great thing about the color options on this series is that you’re not limited to just one color. You are able to customize the look of your window to fit your house even more by combining different colors for the sash, frame, and trim.
