Andersen has many window series options so if you’re set on Andersen windows for your home you shouldn’t have any problems finding the right one. In this article, we’ll go over the features of Andersen’s A-Series. You can expect to find the following information in this blog post:
Construction and Durability
Style and Beauty
Value and Delivery
- Wood interior and fiberglass and composite exteriors
This series uses solid wood for the interior window sash and frames. Fiberglass and Fibrex material are used for the exterior sash.
Andersen’s A-Series windows can be used for new construction or in replacement projects.
Windows are available up to 4’ wide and 8’ high. Custom sizes are also available in 1/8” increments.
The A-Series is Andersen’s best performing energy efficient window. The windows in this series have been recognized by ENERGY STAR as some of the most efficient residential window models available in the U.S. and Canada.
A-Series windows are available in four popular styles and also 34 specialty shapes.

Grilles, or grids, give your window a more traditional look. Before technology made creating large panes of glass a possibility, glass for windows was made in small individual pieces that were joined together by window grilles. Glass now is made in large sheets and grilles are an aesthetic touch.
Andersen offers grille patterns to match popular architectural styles as well as custom patterns. They also offer four options for grille types:
Full Divided Light
- They give your window the most authentic look with grilles on the exterior and interior sides of the window as well as an aluminum spacer between the sheets of glass. The spacer creates the full illusion that there are individual panes of glass instead of one sheet.
Simulated Divided Light
- This option is similar to the Full Divided Light with grilles on the exterior and interior sides of the window. The exterior grille is permanent and the interior grilles can be permanent or removable. There is no divider between the glass on this option.
Removable Interior Grille
- This grille is secured on the interior side of the window so you can remove it when you want to clean your full window.
Finelight Grilles Between-the-Glass
- This option places the grilles between the panes of glass making it easy to clean the exterior and interior sides of the window glass.
Andersen offers its highest performing glass packages for this series including Low-E4 and Triple-Pane glass.
Hardware for Awning and Casement Windows
Hardware options for awning and casement windows include traditional folding hardware and contemporary folding hardware. Andersen also offers a window opening control device kit that limits how far the sash will open.
Hardware for Double-hung Window
The standard option for a double-hung window is a Lock and Keeper. Andersen also offers a traditional hand lift, bar lift, and finger lifts as well as a contemporary bar lift.
A tilt sash option isn’t available on all windows but it is available as an option for the Double-hung window in the A-Series.
Andersen calls this feature the “Easy Tilt-to-Clean” because that is precisely what a tilt sash is and does. The sash is the part of the window that holds the glass in the frame and on double-hung. In other words, it’s the part that moves up and down when you open the window. On a tilt sash, that part can unlatch from the frame and swing-down so that cleaning the window glass doesn’t involve having to go outside.
Andersen offers 11 color options for the exterior of the products in the A Series. The great thing about the color options on this series is that you’re not limited to just one color. You are able to customize the look of your window to fit your house even more by combining different colors for the sash, frame, and trim.
With the A-Series you have several options in wood species, interior stains and paint colors.
6 Interior Wood Species
6 Interior Wood Stains
Interior finishes are only available on Pine, Maple, and Oak. Cherry, Mahogany, and Vertical Grain Douglas Fir are only available unfinished.
11 Standard Interior Colors
The A-Series is part of Andersen’s luxury windows and doors collection so it is also on the pricier end of windows.
Products in this series are covered by Andersen's Owner 2 Owner Limited Warranty.
The lead-time on an A-Series window is about 5-6 weeks. That's about how long it takes to get the window ordered, made, and delivered.
