Where’s the value?

Consumer Reports gives the Andersen 400 Series casement and double-hung windows “excellent” ratings.

Windows from the 400 Series are Andersen’s most popular products. They offer a classic blend of engineering and craftsmanship making them durable and long-lasting. The windows are available in a wide variety of sizes, styles, and colors. These options along with accessories make it easy to fit your home with windows that can’t be ignored. We’ll get into these topics ahead.

Andersen 400 Series Prices
Pricing for windows varies because there are many factors to consider. In regard to factors that impact the price of Andersen 400 Series window units alone (without installation costs) include:

  • style
  • size
  • finishes
  • accessories
  • upgrades

400 Series windows are vinyl-clad windows. What are clad windows? Clad windows are windows with a wood frame that have an exterior cover such as fiberglass, vinyl, or aluminum. In this case, the windows have a wood interior and vinyl exterior.

The vinyl exterior protects the frame and resists dents, repels water and seals out the elements. Additionally, Perma-Shield technology used in the exteriors means they’ll never need to be repainted and won’t peel, blister, flake, or corrode.

In other words, 400 Series windows are also low-maintenance saving you the time and hassle of constant repairs.

Energy Efficiency

Weather-resistant construction means greater comfort and more energy efficiency. Windows have weather stripping designed to seal out drafts, wind, and water.

New and well-installed replacement windows should always be more energy efficient than those being replaced but glass also affects energy efficiency. In fact, glass can affect energy efficiency more than any other part of a window or patio door.

Not all glass performs (insulates) the same, Andersen offers one of the industry’s widest array of glass options, so you’re sure to find the right choice for your climate and your home.

The 400 Series carries several window styles: Double-Hung, Casement, Awning, Gliding, Picture, and Specialty.

Windows are available in seven exterior color options: White, Canvas, Sandstone, Terratone, Forest Green, Dark Bronze, and Black.

Window interiors are available in natural pine, white, dark bronze, or black.

Additional customization is available in hardware finishes (12 finishes), hardware (Standard in 4 finishes; Estate in 8 finishes), and grilles.

Sustainability

Andersen is a charter member of the U.S. Green Building Council and was the first window and door manufacturer with Green Seal certified products.
