Blinds, shutters, and shades, oh my! The past few years have seen an explosion in the number of window treatments available, but with all that variety comes the paradox of choice; with all these options, how can you ever decide on that one perfect treatment for your windows? And how can you make sure that those lilac shades that looked so beautiful in the store will actually look good in your own house?
With the iMagine™ Design Center from Hunter Douglas, choosing the right window treatment for your home can be done from the comfort of your own computer. By uploading photos of your own rooms, you can test out different treatments to see how they will actually look in your house.
First, take horizontal landscape-orientation pictures of the rooms you are looking to furnish with window treatments. Include as much of the room as you can in good lighting. If you don't want to take photos, the program allows you to create a room similar to your own by selecting wall coverings, flooring, and furniture.
Then, launch the Design Center. Click the Upload Photo tab and follow the prompts to upload your photos. Once you've uploaded your photo, use the dragging tool to highlight the window you want to try treatments on.
Once you've selected a window, use the View Products section to select different window treatment options. For this example, we've tried out the Duette Honeycomb shades in Desert Sands.
Hmmm. These shades give this room a clean, crisp look, but perhaps something darker would suit this room a little better. Let's try out the Silhouette window shadings in Artist's Wine.
Much better! The color of these shades really fit in with the tones of the furniture. Mission Accomplished (but this software is so much fun, you'll probably be trying on different window fashions all day).
When you've narrowed down your choices, visit the expansive Ross Howard Designs showroom in Dallas to see the window fashions up close. The Hunter Douglas gallery includes over 75 samples of window fashions, with functional displays that will help you choose the right add-on options for your window treatments, such as full-service motorization.
