It's happened to all of us. You are away from home going about your day when that question abruptly floods your mind: "Did I forget to lock my doors?". Statistics show a large number of home invasions are the result of an intruder simply walking in and not 'breaking in'. With our busy lifestyles, it is easy to accidentally leave a door or window unlocked and easily accessible to those with dubious intentions.
Fortunately, this dilemna is about to become a thing of the past. Andersen Corporation and Honeywell have collaborated to create a system that allows security alarms to alert homeowners if their windows or doors are unlocked.
While earlier systems could only tell if a window or door was open or closed, the VeriLock system has sensors that can actually detect if they are unlocked. Holly Boehne, Andersen's senior vice-president of research, development and innovation explains:
"Windows and doors are a home's first layer of protection for both comfort and security. It's important to make that layer 'smarter' for added protection. This relationship with Honeywell brings together the winning combination of two great brands and a state of the art solution to give peace of mind to homeowners."
This video from the ISC Solutions Show explains how the VeriLock system works
Currently, VeriLock sensors on available on Eagle Axiom casement and awning windows, Talon double-hung windows, and Ascent hinged French patio doors and sliding patio doors.
