How Much are Contemporary Windows?

Contemporary windows are usually more expensive than standard windows, but what’s the real cost of these windows, and how do they compare? First, we have to look at some of the brands that offer contemporary windows, because every vendor is different. Some are considered more affordable than others, but might not offer as many options as another.

Andersen:

Andersen offers a few different contemporary window options, and is one of the brands that offers expensive options along with more affordable ones. The Andersen 100 Series in vinyl offers beautiful, contemporary picture and casement windows. It also offers great single hung windows that can be customized to be more contemporary.

The largest picture windows (96” x 102”) in all black from the Andersen 100 Series will cost $1,145, while this window in all black at its smallest (12” x 12”) costs $184*. An Andersen 100 series black casement at its largest (36” x 72”) will cost $979, while at its smallest (18” x 24”) it will cost $438*. Finally, Andersen 100 Series single hung windows in all black will cost $844 at their largest (48” x 90”) and $298* at their smallest (18” x 24”). The main cost of these vinyl windows is the size of the glass and the black interior and exterior.

NT Window:

NT Window also has many contemporary window options, but is one of the more expensive brands when it comes to selling contemporary windows. The NT Window Presidential Series gives you the option to choose casement and picture windows, along with customizable single hung windows.

The largest picture window (72” x 96”) in all black from the NT Window Executive Series costs around $2,140. The reason this window is so expensive is due to the fact that the glass has to be tempered due to its large size. The smallest picture window (12” x 12”) in all black from this series will cost you $507*.

The largest casement window from this series (36” x 72”) will cost you $1,146, while this window at its smallest (16” x 20”) will cost around $722*. Contemporary Windows Vs. Standard Windows

Contemporary windows are a beautiful addition to any space, but they can also be expensive, so how do they compare to standard windows? Standard windows, such as traditional double pane, single hung windows will not be so expensive to install, and if they are vinyl they will be even cheaper. However, the cheapest option may not always be the right one for you.

It all comes down to the style and size of your home, your preferences and your budget. If you have a more traditional home, the cheaper, traditional windows might be perfect for you. However, if you're looking to add a sleek touch to your space, contemporary windows would be a great investment.

If you get a few bids and decide contemporary windows are out of your budget, consider some customizations to windows with more traditional profiles. Adding simple customizations like a black interior and exterior will give your home a whole new look for a fraction of the price. Depending on the material and state of your current windows, you could simply have them painted instead of worrying about buying new black windows.
